What the Club Is Doing

Fundraising for Shriners Children’s is the club’s real mission. Efforts in the works: a can tab drive, WxW vinyl stickers, one to two parties a year, a holiday toy drive, and an annual April chicken dinner with Waxhaw Lodge No. 562. Bring your ideas to any stated meeting — and send your photos and stories in through the Desert Dust page under Oasis Resources so the whole Temple sees what Waxhaw is up to.

About Us

The Waxhaw Shrine Club is an area club of Oasis Shriners, Shriners International — a hometown home for Nobles in the Waxhaw, North Carolina area.

Who We Are

Waxhaw had no local Shrine club serving its Nobles, so a group of Oasis Nobles here organized one. The club adopted its bylaws at its organizational meeting on October 29, 2026, at Waxhaw Masonic Lodge No. 562, and regular meetings commence in January 2027.

Membership is made up of Nobles in good standing in their Masonic Blue Lodges and in Oasis Shriners. We meet at Waxhaw Masonic Lodge No. 562 — dinner at 6:30 PM and meeting at 7:00 PM on the last Thursday of each month, January through October. The club is dark in November and December.

Our logo says it plainly: the Waxhaw water tower wearing a red fez — Shrinedom, right here at home.

What We’re Trying to Do

The club’s purpose is threefold:

  • Fellowship — promote fellowship among regionally located members of Oasis Shriners
  • Shrinedom at home — promote Shrinedom in general, right here in Waxhaw
  • Help kids — support Shriners Children’s through charitable activities and raise public awareness of its work

That last one is the real mission. We’re building fundraisers the whole town can join — a year-round can tab drive, WxW vinyl stickers, club parties, a holiday toy drive, and an annual April chicken dinner with Waxhaw Lodge No. 562 — and using our talents to put Waxhaw’s good work in front of the whole Temple.

    Creating New Nobles

Every Waxhaw Noble can bring in the next one. This is the path exactly as Oasis Shriners lays it out on its membership page — fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth, in a fraternity of nearly 200 temples in seven countries.

How a Man Becomes a Shriner

    1. Start as a Master Mason

Every Shriner is a Mason first. If your candidate isn’t a Master Mason yet, his road starts with a North Carolina lodge — the Grand Lodge of NC explains the path and what to consider before joining.

    2. Ask a Shriner to Sponsor You

To become a Shriner, a man must ask a current Shriner to support and sponsor his application. For most Waxhaw candidates, that’s you — a Noble who knows him, vouches for him, and walks with him.

    3. Or Get a Virtual Mentor at Be a Shriner Now

No sponsor yet? Be a Shriner Now pairs a candidate with a virtual mentor who answers his questions, guides him through the petition process, and helps him get to know members of his local Temple — by his side every step of the way.

    4. Complete the Petition

The candidate fills out the Petition for Initiation and Membership, signed with his sponsor, and submits it to Oasis Shriners. His mentor — or you — can help him with every line.

    5. Cross the Hot Sands at a Ceremonial

Once his petition is accepted, he is created a Noble at an Oasis ceremonial — the Temple holds them through the year. Watch Oasis Events under Oasis Events & Calendars for the next one and bring him.

How Waxhaw Gets In the Dust

Every club event, fundraiser, parade, and good deed is a story the Desert Dust wants. Use the form on this page to send the club secretary:

    • Photos — from meetings, fundraisers, parades, and presentations
    • Videos — clips from club events
    • Writing — a few paragraphs about what happened, or a full story
    • Announcements — upcoming Waxhaw events for the Temple to see

Submissions go to John A. Mullen, Club Secretary, who collects everything for the Waxhaw Shrine Club and forwards it to Vani, who manages the Desert Dust for Oasis (the magazine’s own inbox is DesertDust@oasisshriners.org). Include the names of everyone in your photos — the Dust prints names with pictures.

Submit to the Desert Dust — Waxhaw Shrine Club

Fill this out and hit Prepare My Submission. The app packages everything into a ready-to-send email — just attach your photo and video files in your mail app before you send. Members can also bring submissions to a stated meeting for the club secretary to pass on to the Desert Dust.

What are you submitting? (check all that apply)

Please add your name, a headline, and check at least one submission type.

      The Shriners Creed

Shriners believe in God and that He created man to serve His purposes, among which is service to others in His name.

We believe that care for the less fortunate, especially children who suffer from burns and crippling diseases, is our institutional calling.

We are patriots, each willing to serve his country with fidelity and courage. We cherish independence under law and freedom with responsibility.

We honor family. We respect our parents, wives and children. We should instill in our children the tenets of this creed, and the heritage from which it emanates.

As individuals we pledge ourselves to integrity, virtue and nobility of character. Our intentions will be honorable, our relations will be trustworthy and our spirits forgiving of each other.

As brothers we offer each other fraternal affection and respect. Together we will support each other in adherence to this creed, so that we and our communities will be the better because of our fraternity and its principles.

As Shriners we look beyond ourselves to serve the needs of others, especially children who cannot help themselves. We believe Shriners Hospitals to be the world’s greatest philanthropy, and we covenant with each other to support its “temples of mercy” with spirit, time, talent and means.

      So Mote It Be

      Members Login

Member-only information — the club roster, contact cards, members’ phone numbers, and the club bylaws — is not on this public page. It lives in the private Waxhaw Shrine Club members app, and you need login credentials to see it.

      Don’t Have a Login Yet?

Come to a stated meeting — dinner at 6:30 PM, meeting at 7:00 PM on the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Waxhaw Masonic Lodge No. 562 — and ask about getting set up. New logins are set up for club members only.

      Just Visiting?

Everything public is already on this site — meeting times, the club calendar, fundraisers, and Oasis resources. No login is needed for any of it. The bylaws are member-only — they live in the private members app, behind the Members Login above.

      Fundraisers

Fundraising for Shriners Children’s is the club’s real mission. These are the efforts Waxhaw is building — bring your own ideas to any stated meeting.

      Can Tab Drive

Collecting all year · Turn-in by December 1 each year

Save the pull tabs from cans — every tab collected goes to support Shriners Children’s. Collection runs all year long, with everything turned in by December 1. Custom collection containers are available for businesses that want to collect tabs for the club — ask any Noble to place one.

      Custom WxW Shriners Vinyl Stickers

For sale · At stated meetings & by order below

Custom Waxhaw (WxW) Shriners vinyl stickers, sold to raise money for the club and Shriners Children’s. Pick yours up at a stated meeting, or use the order form below — and put one where the whole town can see it.

      Club Parties

One to two per year · Dates TBD

Our parties will be the club’s money driver — the main fundraising engine that powers everything else we do for Shriners Children’s.

Dates are to be determined: before anything is scheduled, the rental agreement and insurance costs with Waxhaw Lodge No. 562 must be negotiated.

Holiday Toy Drive — Toy Drive 2027

      October 1, 2027 – December 1, 2027

Waxhaw’s holiday toy drive runs from October 1 through December 1, 2027 — collecting toys through the fall so local children have a brighter Christmas. Watch the Club Calendar for collection spots and drop-off details as the season gets closer.

      Order Custom Stickers

Choose a design, tell us how many you want, and where to reach you. Fill this out and hit Prepare My Sticker Order — the app packages it into a ready-to-send email to Alia, CC’d to John Mullen and Jason Jollie.

Payment: the online pay link is coming soon — once the club bank account is set up, payment will be linked here. For now, no payment is taken on this page; we’ll confirm your order and how to pay when we reply.

Sticker designs: design photos and names are being added to the dropdown — for now, choose “First available design” or “Not sure yet” and we’ll confirm the design with you.

Please choose a sticker design, add your name, a quantity of at least 1, and a contact email or phone.

      Got a Fundraiser Idea?

Bring it to a stated meeting, or send the photos and story from the last one in through Desert Dust under Oasis Resources so the whole Temple sees what Waxhaw is up to.

      Add to Your Phone

You can put this public site right on your phone’s home screen, just like a regular app. There is no app store and no download to pay for — this public page needs no password. (The separate private members app is reached through Members Login.) It only takes about a minute — just follow the steps for your kind of phone below.

The app icon — the Waxhaw water tower wearing a red Shriners fez
      wxw shrine

When you’re done, look for this water tower icon on your home screen, with the name “wxw shrine” under it. Tap it any time to open the club app.

      If You Have an iPhone

Use the Safari browser for these steps.

      1. Open this app in Safari. If you opened the link from a text or an email and don’t see Safari’s buttons, open Safari first and go to this page there.

      2. Tap the Share button — it looks like a square with an arrow pointing up. You’ll find it at the bottom of the screen (or at the top on some iPads).

      3. A list will pop up. Scroll down a little and tap “Add to Home Screen.”

      4. Tap “Add” in the top right corner.

      5. You’re done. Go back to your home screen and tap the water tower that says wxw shrine.

If You Have an Android Phone

Use the Chrome browser for these steps. Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola, and most other Android phones use Chrome.

      1. Open this app in Chrome. If you opened the link from a text or an email, tap the three dots and choose “Open in Chrome” first, if you see that choice.

      2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner of Chrome.

      3. Tap “Add to Home screen” or “Install app” — different phones use different words, and either one is right.

      4. Tap “Add” or “Install” to confirm.

      5. You’re done. Go back to your home screen and tap the water tower that says wxw shrine.

      Good to Know

Once it’s on your home screen, this works just like any other app — tap the water tower and you’re in. When the club updates the app, your copy updates on its own the next time you open it. You do not need to add it again.

Stuck on a step? Bring your phone to any stated meeting and ask any Noble — we’ll get it on your home screen in a minute.
